A comprehensive review of all data that is relevant to our initiatives and scope of work. This includes climate surveys, student surveys, testing data, special education program protocol, gifted education program selection requirements and participant data, high school and middle school course catalogs, and other information as needed.
We deliver cultural competency presentations and workshops to administrators and staff to alleviate any underlying challenges that may be hindering the educational process. Our educational consultants have experience working with varying degrees of cultural diversity awareness training. Presenters have been selected based on their background as well as their ability to appeal and relate to your staff demographic to optimize engagement and effectiveness.
We offer a thorough cultural competency training session to all new hires in the district. We educate the staff on the best practices and strategies for building and maintaining relationships as they come into the district. Making transparency a top priority, we share current data regarding DPS student demographics and changes that have occurred in the district so that these educators can understand the importance of culturally responsive teaching for higher student success rates. x
We leverage our partnership initiatives with the Principal Leadership Institute and bring in our principals and administrators with high turn-around and success rates to work directly with your administrative staff. Our administrators share their success stories and tactics on creating community partners, turning around low-performing schools and creating pathways to optimize students’ success. Our efforts also benefit the students’ post-graduation experience, as we’ve successfully partnered with community colleges to offer pathway programs for students.
We work with English and Social studies instructional coaches to assist them in selecting culturally responsive literary material to ensure diversity. Our efforts include conducting professional development with district English teachers and Social Studies teachers assisting them with integrating culturally relevant material into their classrooms and aligning it with the DPS curriculum.
This initiative involves DPS with recruitment initiatives to attract diversity among new hires. We achieve this by creating recruitment campaigns to solicit teacher preparation programs. Part of this service also includes defining and promoting DPS’s incentive-based contracts for new hire diversity recruitment. We also attend teacher recruitment fairs on behalf of DPS and solicit the recruitment initiatives.
